Sophie Giraffe Teether

If you’re a parent, you know about the Sophie teether. Known affectionately as “Sophie” in most families, it becomes a baby’s most treasured possession. But the great thing about Sophie is that she’s phthalate, PVC, Lead and BPA free, and Sophie is hand made in the French Alps with 100% natural rubber and non-toxic food paint. I’ll just go ahead and say it: the Sophie teether is the perfect toy for babies and the perfect gift for first-time parents.

Biodegradable Tableware

This tableware set from Real Goods has a lot going for it. It’s biodegradable, and mulches in as little as four months. It’s made from renewable bamboo, straw and rice hull fibers, and is colored with rice or coconut. They’re also petroleum and plastic free. The thing I love the best about them though, is that they look beautiful. They’re nice and simple, and they have the size and shape of tableware that fits perfectly. I didn’t realize biodegradable tableware even existed a few days ago – now this set is at the top of my wish list!

GeoBulb LED Light Bulb

People sometimes complain about the high cost of CFC light bulbs, since they cost $5 instead of $2. Well check these out! The GeoBulbs are instant-on LED bulbs that contain no mercury and last 20 years or more! The downside? They cost $119 apiece. Ouch.

Spinning Composter

I’m currently in the market for a composter, and this looks like the one to buy. It makes compost quickly, and alleviates much of the annoyances for standard bucket-style composters, too. I’m looking forward to giving this one a try!

Wooden Flashlight

I love this fully functional flashlight. I looks like a beautiful, simple piece of art, but it really works. And it isn’t made of plastic or metal like every other flashlight I’ve ever seen!
